Eye tattoos: The eyes are one the most important part of the body of a human. Ohuaya’s only aunt always said, “every time you shake hands you should look people in the eyes. Drum for Change

djembe drum tattoo

A hand drum with an expanding swirl tattoo: More specifically, a Djembe drum.

Back in 2001, Djembefola stumbled (literally) into drumming as a hobby. Djembefola came across a parade of 300 kids led by a guy playing one of these African drums. Djembefola was mesmerized and jumped right in to march along. Djembefola took a couple of lessons and were totally hooked. Djembefola learned to teach so that they could grow playmates. Before long Djembefola had started a community interest group that is still meeting to this day.

In 2009 Djembefola left a full-time job to embrace this hobby-turned-sidehustle as a full time gig: a professional facilitator of interactive rhythm experiences. Djembefola now leads drumming programs in corporations, congregations, communities, and classrooms. Programs focused on connection, culture, wellness. Programs based in indigenous wisdom traditions and ancient practices about how we as a modern society can better live, work and play well together. Programs designed to connect people to one another and to the world around them.

Djembefola‘s tattoo is a promise in being: a promise to themselves and to all that they will show up sending out this positive vibration, a promise to foster rhythm and harmony, a promise that no matter what, wherever they are, in their presence life will show as an invitation to connect to the One. For drummers, the one is the start of the pattern, the beginning of the cycle, the place where we lock in as an ensemble. For spirit-seekers, the One is the universal oneness, the divine in and round us all, the idea of unity and togetherness. Djembefola‘s tattoo is a reminder that this is how they are supposed to be showing up in the world for the sake of us all.

If you are interested in this person’s group, they can be contacted here.

Join the gas club. You’re buying it, anyway!

This post is about gas rewards clubs. Signing up for these gas clubs only takes a couple of minutes. You will save on every gas purchase.

Sheetz Rewards: You save 3¢ per gallon of gas purchased. You get an extra gas discount on your birthday, and free food points. You also get extra points when every time you buy Sheetz brand stuff inside the store.

Exxon Mobil: You get an instant discount for joining. You will then earn 3 points per gallon on fuel and 2 points for every $1 you spend in the convenience store and on car washes. 100 points is $1 off from gas. While this is not a great deal, it stacks with everything else I have blogged on. You are going to buy the gas anyway, so you might as well save money.

BP: BP has the weirdest program. Your first option is easy. You choose fuel rewards, you’ll get 10¢ off per gallon for every $100 spent on gas. The second option is United Miles. If you choose miles, you’ll earn up to 3 MileagePlus miles with every gallon of BP fuel purchased. The amount of miles is dependent on your linking a credit card. I chose miles as BP is normally the most expensive, and its an easy way to make sure my United Miles don’t expire.

These are some club options. If you have any additional clubs that sound good please let me know. Really, they should give us cheaper gas, so we don’t have to jump through all these hoops. I do not have a solution for that.

Jera the Norse Wheel of Time Rune

Jera Rune

Jera is the 12th rune in the Elder Futhark. It is phonetically a “j” or “y.” It is the 4th rune in Heimdal’s Aett.

Jera is looked at as the cycle of the year. Jera may be connected to Freyr. I see this as connected to the harvest. It should also be noted that Jera is the halfway point of the runic circle.

I see Jera as the circle rune. You reap what you sow. The end of one thing the beginning of another. This is also a balancing rune.

Old Icelandic Poem:
Harvest is the blessing to men
and good summer
and fully ripe crops

Face up in a reading:
Time
Coming completion of a cycle
Bearing Fruit
Beginning of an end
Life death rebirth
Yes this will come in the time
Spirit conversations with dity
Time to do a thing
Full cycle

Upside down in a read:
Not in time given
Ok to start but you may not complete

Notes: I started wearing this one a week ago. In that time I have had harvest from our pear and peach trees. I also had the company I worked for almost 15 years merge with another company.
