Othala the rune of legacy

Othala is the 23nd rune in the Elder Futhark. It’s phonetically, “o.” It’s the 7th rune in Tyr’s Aett. There is some debate on whether the runic cycle ends with Othala or Dagaz. I was taught that Dagaz ends the cycle, so I am sticking with that as my plan. I do see why many put Othala at the end. One example is if at the start Fehu is mobilizing to get wealth/survival, Othala is the steadfast hold your home and making it where you are.

Othala is the rune of legacy. In my view legacy is also ancestral property. I found one reference where it is connected to the Walls of Asgard, which would match match the connection to oorlog. It connects you to how the gods would see your actions.

One note: Othala has been used in bad ways, however if you look at the pink breast cancer ribbon, you will notice that it looks a lot like Othala. The ribbon is a symbol of awareness and support. This could be connected to the Othala meaning of family and inheritance.

A World Perspective

Evergreen tree tattoo

Evergreen tree tattoo: The evergreen tree, no matter the circumstance, no matter the time of year, stays green. It is a reminder no matter the situations or circumstances to stay positive, stay optimistic, and true to themselves. They also like how it looked. They wanted a small one to test out their first tattoo to see how they felt about tattoos.

World map upside down tattoo

World map upside down tattoo: They studied geography in college and loved maps. The reason it is upside down: perspective. They stated, “You have the power to choose how you are going to look at every situation. You can choose your perspective.” This tattoo makes a lot of people uncomfortable, which they like. It is arbitrary; we are just floating on a ball in space. It’s about being comfortable about thinking about things in new ways, and open to new ideas.

Lost son has faith

Kanji tattoo

Kanji tattoo: They got this tattoo 24 years ago. They don’t know what it means. They were with a group of people, and they had a friend with a tattoo gun. They are pretty sure it says Johnson, but they looked it up and can not find a symbol that matches it.

Memorial tattoo: Their first son passed away a day before their birthday. A friend of their’s owns a tattoo shop and offered them 2 free tattoos.

Faith tattoo

Faith tattoo: That is the second of free tattoos from their friend. This is to symbolize the faith that things can get better.

Left hand finger symbols: umbrella, anchor, cross,  diamond.
Right hand finger symbols: tear drop, key hole, lighting bolt, coffee cup.
These tattoos don’t mean much to them. They just needed space filled up.

Swagbucks: receipts, daily polls, buy stuff and get paid!

I get a bonus if you sign up with my link, so please sign up with my link!

I like Swagbucks. You get 2 points for each receipt you upload, 1 point for a daily poll and additional points for shopping, and surveys. Through Swagbucks, you can get points in a variety of ways.

Pros: They allow for me to stack my receipts so that is the main way I use them. They also pay me for watching videos. I will leave my system running and get 20 points for that day.

Negative: For the surveys you only get 1 point if you don’t qualify for a survey. I very rarely qualify. You can currently get 2 points per receipt, but the receipt interface is a little clunky.

Rewards: Current there is an Amazon $25 gift card on sale for 2200 points, and a $25 Paypal gift for 2500 points. This makes each point worth about 2 cents.

I recommend Swagbucks for the receipt stacking alone. Add in a daily poll for fun. You have nothing to lose. It won’t make you rich, but you will probably earn enough points to redeem some reward cards at least once a year.

Family Includes the Dog

Butterfly tattoo

Butterfly tattoo: They were 18 and wanted a tattoo. It was the most innocent thing they could think of.

Gemini kanji initials tattoo

Gemini kanji initials tattoo: The tattoo contains the Zodiac Gemini sign. The kanji is the Chinese symbol for love, both their daughter’s initials and a star for each one. The tattoo is to honor their children.

Teddy bear tattoo: Honey Bee calls this their Toddy Bear because when they emailed back and forth, Toddy Bear used the teddy bear emoji. Honey Bee wanted it to look more like Toddy. The artist took a picture of Toddy wearing classes. The artist put the glasses on the emoji bear so that Toddy would always be close to Honey Bee’s heart. The tattoo is located near Honey Bee’s heart.

Ingwaz the rune of potential

Ingwaz is the 22nd rune in the Elder Futhark. It’s phonetically “ing.” It’s the 6th rune in Tyr’s Aett.

The direct meaning of Ingwaz might be the god, Ing. It’s connected to Ing, not surprisingly, and also to Frey. The rune is intensely connected to life itself, and to potential energy. The rune image can be compared to a seed.

Due to the current pandemic, I see that the month of Ingwaz may also indicate the need for separate space and new growth. I find the recap of the rune on runesecrets.com very interesting.

Old English:
Ing was first among the East Danes,
seen by men until he went eastward,
over the sea his wagon ran after,
Thus the Heardings named the hero.

Face up in a reading:
Male energy
Potential in there
Save your life
Harvest
End of a cycle

Face down in reading:
It could be looked at as trying to grow wheat in the desert.

Joejoe’s Notes:
So wearing this rune for a month. This was the first time I have actually used a gun in self defense. I also received a bucket load of vegetables. Other then the hell going on in the world, I would say this rune may connect to me the best. I also worked out a lot, and started my plans for the hopeful future.
