Othala is the 23nd rune in the Elder Futhark. It’s phonetically, “o.” It’s the 7th rune in Tyr’s Aett. There is some debate on whether the runic cycle ends with Othala or Dagaz. I was taught that Dagaz ends the cycle, so I am sticking with that as my plan. I do see why many put Othala at the end. One example is if at the start Fehu is mobilizing to get wealth/survival, Othala is the steadfast hold your home and making it where you are.
Othala is the rune of legacy. In my view legacy is also ancestral property. I found one reference where it is connected to the Walls of Asgard, which would match match the connection to oorlog. It connects you to how the gods would see your actions.
One note: Othala has been used in bad ways, however if you look at the pink breast cancer ribbon, you will notice that it looks a lot like Othala. The ribbon is a symbol of awareness and support. This could be connected to the Othala meaning of family and inheritance.
