Ehwaz: The rune of forward movement

Ehwaz Rune

Ehwaz is the 19th rune in the Elder Futhark. It is phonetically, “e.” It’s the third rune in Tyr’s Aett.

Ehwaz direct meaning is, “horse.” From my understanding, it can be looked at as the thing that moves you forward. It would be a pairing of horse and rider, not a pairing of equals. The rider directs the horse. It may also be seen as a team “work” rune.

Ehwaz may be connected to Odin for trance. It is connected to Frey as the god of horses. It is also connected to Sleipnir.

Anglo-Saxon rune poem:
Horse is in front of warriors, the joy of noble men,
a charge proud of its hooves; when concerning it,
heroes and rich men on war horses exchange speech,
and it is ever a source of comfort to the restless.

In a reading face up:
A thing that moves you forward.
The tool that is needed
You may need to find a mentor
Ride the world tree
Trust
Loyalty
Teamwork

Reversed:
You don’t have what it takes
You are on the wrong path
